Okay, so it didn’t turn out to be the warmest of bank holiday weekends, but the sun definitely appears to be shining for kitchen retailers, after a somewhat mixed start to the year.
I was on my travels last week, visiting several kitchen retailers, and for the most part, they’re all experiencing the same thing:
The last month or so has seen an uplift in the number of leads and sales coming through the doors.
My conclusion is that it seems the decision to extend the Brexit deadline until October, has meant that consumers who weren’t taking big decisions as a result of political and economic uncertainty have decided that they should just get on with things and live life.
Which means doing the stuff they’ve been toying with - including replacing their kitchen, a bathroom, or getting a fitted bedroom.
And what does this mean for you, aside from (hopefully) an increase in business?
Make hay while the sun shines.
Still, no one knows what the outcome will be from the machinations in Westminster. Which means that if people are buying right now, you need to be making the most of it.
So, off the back of that, I’ve got two bits of advice for kitchen retailers:
1. Go back to people who’ve enquired in the last six months
There’ll likely be plenty of people who’ve enquired with you over the last few months but haven’t let taken the plunge. But, with the Brexit deadline extended, there’s a very good chance that those people will now be ready to take action.
One of the most successful emails I’ve ever seen in the kitchen sector is what’s known as the ‘9-word email’, and if I were you, I’d be sending that right about now.
It’s simple to get out – just get your list of past enquiries and send them an email saying, “Are you still looking a get a new kitchen?”. No more words than that – resist the temptation to say anything else.
2. Get your brand out there
If ever there was a time to advertise, it’s now. The country’s mood is improved. People are in a buying frame of mind – summer’s on the way, Brexit’s been delayed, another Royal Baby has just arrived.
Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, Lifestyle Magazines, Radio, or even flyers, you need to get your message out and get the leads in, while they’re there to get.
We know the sun won’t shine forever, so it’s time to make hay now.
