As promised, I’m boiling the ocean

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing a few of the marketing tactics and strategies I used to increase the turnover of my family’s kitchen business by EIGHT times.

And first up, I want to talk about a mistake a lot of kitchen retailers make with their marketing – trying to talk to everyone.

The logic goes something like this:

Nearly everyone needs a kitchen, so nearly everyone is my potential customer.

It’s not true.  And if it were true, it still wouldn’t be sensible to target everyone.

You see, trying to target EVERYONE with your message is rather like trying to 'boil the ocean' – it’s impossible, it’ll take forever, and you’ll run out of the energy to do it before you’ve even got anything simmering.

Rather than reaching ‘mass’, it’s far more effective to pick a specific audience and focus ALL your efforts on reaching that audience.

Not only does that allow you to tailor the message of your marketing more effectively, it’ll also pretty much guarantee that that message actually lands with your prospect.

So, stop trying to ‘go big’ – reduce, target and make sure your message actually lands.

Good luck…

P.S. Out of interest, what marketing are you doing at the moment?
