Two key words for selling more kitchens

I’ve repeatedly said that if you run a KBB business, Google is non-negotiable.

The simple truth is that in 2022, Google is where most of your prospects start their journey, and if you’re not there, you’re nowhere.

Chances are you agree with the principle, but it still begs one big question:

HOW?

After all, the big brands are ALL OVER Google like it’s going out of fashion.  Spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on pay-per-click and hoovering up the majority of search – how are you supposed to compete?

And I’ve got two words for you, two words that I hope will provide the answer:

‘Kitchen Design’

Those two words account for the second-highest volume of kitchen-related searches on Google.  And with the big sheds spending most of their time on the highest volume search, “kitchens”, you can sneak in and get in front of the people looking for design rather than something off-the-shelf from Wren or Magnet.

The other key consideration is that people looking for ‘kitchen design’ are searching for a service, not images of ‘white kitchens’, ‘modern kitchens’, ‘shaker kitchens’ and the like.  They’re further along their journey; they have more intent.

So, what do you need to do to show up for this term?

1. Create a specific ‘Kitchen Design’ page.  Most kitchen companies don’t have a page dedicated solely to ‘Kitchen Design’, so there’s an opportunity.  The search volume for that term is so significant that it deserves a solus page of content.

2. Optimise it for your location.  Use the keyword ‘kitchen design’ on the page - add title tags, meta descriptions and image descriptions.  It’s vital also to add your target location/s so that Google knows which area/s you serve.

3. Bid on the term on Google Ads.  Still the fastest and easiest way to get to the very top of Google - Google Search Ads. The big brands tend not to spend proportionately less of their budget on ‘kitchen design’, so you’ve got a more cost-effective approach to getting to the top of the tree.

So there you have it – ‘kitchen design’ for the win.
